JB Wheelsets Pointed Axles will fit most model railroad equipment, both vintage and modern. The scale 33” wheel is most commonly used under freight cars from the steam era into the modern era. Although it’s still around, most modern freight cars use the 36” wheel, as do all passenger cars from all eras. Because they're so popular, the 33” and 36” wheels are also available in Bulk Paks of 50 or 100. The 28” wheel is used on auto rack cars and many intermodal cars.
The 40” and 42” wheels work great for pre-1984 Athearn dummy locomotives. They are also handy for other applications requiring a pointed axle with a 40” or 42” wheel.
For our friends across the pond, we offer NEM (Normal European Modeling) standard wheelsets with the NMRA RP25 contour wheel. They all have an axle length of 0.965” or 24.51 mm, and are offered in five wheel diameters. They will fit most equipment manufactured to NEM standards.
All JB Wheelsets Pointed Axles feature precision machine-turned brass wheels conforming to the NMRA RP25 contour standard, with the standard profile width of 0.110”. The wheel surface is smoother than the stamped wheels of other manufacturers, reducing dirt accumulation. JB Wheelsets weigh more, lowering the center of gravity and helping your trains track better. And they’re insulated on only one side, so you can easily add electrical pickups.
