JB Wheelsets Blunt Axles are most often used where a Shoulder Axle end is too narrow. Several brass importers used these on steam locomotive pony (leading) and trailing trucks. They are also used on some passenger car trucks. They can convert an older Athearn metal sideframe outside bearing powered locomotive into a very free-wheeling dummy unit. The varied wheel sizes will fit a wide range of applications.
All JB Wheelsets Blunt Axles feature precision machine-turned brass wheels conforming to the NMRA RP25 contour standard, with the standard profile width of 0.110”. The black nickel finish looks much more realistic than the “bright and shiny” look of other brands. The wheel surface is smoother than the stamped wheels of other manufacturers, reducing dirt accumulation. JB Wheelsets weigh more, lowering the center of gravity and helping your trains track better. And they’re insulated on only one side, so you can easily add electrical pickups.
